I can survey why some people hated this film, because if you bought the DVD to sustain your young children occupied, you didn't rep your money's worth. 'Igor' is really for obsolete awe buffs, but it tried to play both sides of the field. It's too adult for kids and not unlit enough for adults.

The animation is very helpful and looks more than a limited inspired by 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'. The whine work isn't terrible, but the film doesn't have enough inspired characters to hold the momentum going. Most of the comical relief comes from an immortal rabbit who wants to die!

Overall I consider if you like musty anxiety films and lively films you'll like 'Igor', but it will not retain the limited ones eager. The DVD has an reliable transfer, but not a lot of extras. There is an alternate beginning that is animated.

I have seen most of the computer generated exciting movies. The Pixar ones, naturally, are the best in terms of script quality and overall likability for all ages. The non-Pixar ones are usually exquisite satisfactory but not up to that quality (Shrek, Over the Hedge, Madagascar, etc.), but some are not apt at all in my belief such as Madagascar 2 and Delighted Feet to name a few. It all depends on what you want out of an exciting movie. I personaly study for an bewitching space and most of all the silly one-line quips that are a staple of this genre. The main thing for me with this movie was its originality. The position is really unusual and there were tons of laughable one-liners that I chuckled at throughout. My kids 7 & 9 also were laughing and we watched it twice. I had never even heard of this movie and objective picked it off the shelf at Blockbuster, and I am really satisfied I did. I would say this is one of the best non-Pixar challenging movies I've seen.

This movie is a completely different beast than 'Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels', and 'Snatch'. I enjoyed both of those movies immensely. But Revolver is quite current to any movie I have seen.

I actually saw this movie a few years ago. It was released in the UK and Europe in 2005 in theatres and DVD. I purchased a copy online. I wondered at the time why it hadn't been released in the U.S.

Firstly, I cannot say great about the legend, because I don't want to give anything away. It's that type of movie. Reminded me of the first time I saw 'Fight Club'. I said, "what the f---? " But I knew I'd impartial witnessed something fair awesome. Definitely a movie you have to glimpse twice.

I would really emphasize that to anyone enthusiastic in this film. It REQUIRES multiple viewings. I figured the movie out midway through the second peruse. But it took several viewings to fully understand. Also, seeing other reviewers on different sites when the movie originally came out, it was definitely those who watched it several times to understand it that fell in adore with 'Revolver'.

A warning here for some of you: lots of violence and blood and profanity. If that's alright with you, the movie is a thrill to peer. It tries some different things that really worked for me. Sterling sound editing, with the gritty say over by Jason Statham. The editing is frantic. I have to say, the Elevator Scene, you'll know what I am referring to after viewing, is one of the most intense movie scenes I've ever seen.

That scene, and the finale. The final scene. In a word, INTENSE. This movie really goes out with a bang. One of my popular all-time endings. Ray Liotta, improbable. Gargantuan to gape him with a top notch performance. Statham carries the movie. Also, Sorter, the hitman, really has a classic performance.

'Revolver' is filled with memorable scenes. They went out on a limb trying current things and it really paid off. Notably, the spellbinding sequence is shapely chilly. Dialogue: Wonderful. Some of the things Jake (Statham) says in the voiceover, it's unbiased really mountainous stuff. And I loved the plan they worked the quotes into the movie.

I understand that it could be a frustrating and very confusing movie to many. Again, I would highly recommend multiple viewings. But this is no doubt a movie not to be liked by all. But some of you will appreciate it as I did.

'Revolver' really demands your attention. It has a deep and frosty message leisurely all of it. This movie is clear to be a cult classic. Give it 5-10 years and some people will seek it for what it is. A masterpiece.

UPDATE March 21st, 2008: This review is actually for the UK version. I rented the US version tonight, because it is a ample movie and I haven't seen it in a while. Turns out, the movie has been changed quite drastically the US release.

The current ending, which is one of my all-time popular endings (as illustrious in the review) is gone! The elevator scene, which happens advance the 3/4's label in the unique version, is section of the ending here. A few other parts were completely prick out.

I feel like they botched it. Reminds me of 'Once Upon a Time in America', where they released the ridiculously edited and slash version and it bombed. But the fat length version of that film is a masterpiece.

My STRONG ADVICE: Forget about this one. Pick Up an all-region dvd player and grasp the Space 2 version on eBay for $20.

Guy Ritchie says he got into the film business because he always wanted to mumble spirited movies. And his latest crime thriller "Revolver" is exactly that. It's heavily flawed and utterly ridiculous, but at least it's moving. The anecdote, confusing as it is, focuses on Jake Green (Jason Statham), a luminous gambler who puts his life on the line when he insults Dorothy Macha (Ray Liotta), a considerable casino owner. After Macha orders his ruthless killers to prefer him out, Jake seeks shelter with two con men offering to protect him in return for his fortune.

"Revolver" is as chaotic as a massive shoot-out in which it's nearly impossible to figure out who's shooting whom. Ritchie's script is a total, pseudo-philosophical mess, digging deep into the intricacies of the human ego. Ritchie also plays around with clear rules and formulas to pull off the ultimate con, but the whole game opinion is ludicrously over the top. Meanwhile, the characters employ most of the time tossing around wise rules instead of delivering a coherent exchange of dialogue. "You can only accept smarter by playing a smarter opponent" or "The greatest enemy will veil in the last set you would ever peep" are objective two of a horde of examples. The film also ends with a major twist, but if you haven't lost track of things or even care enough to pause focused until the kill, chances are you won't be surprised.

I initially expected more from the actors, but they're certainly not in their best shape. Jason Statham is always safe at playing tough guys looking for distress, and he's undoubtedly the only cast member to keep on a superb expose as Jake Green. Ray Liotta struggles in the role of malicious casino tyrant, but the only intimidating thing is his underwear. He really could've aged more clothes. As for Andre Benjamin and Vincent Pastore, their shallow performances almost go unnoticed.

On a more definite trace however, "Revolver" is incredibly fast-paced and action-loaded. No matter how confusing or ludicrous the set really is, the movie is stuffed with hot pursuits and crazy shoot-outs, captured stylishly by cinematographer Tim Maurice-Jones. In the raze, despite the crippled script, Ritchie's direction and vision give blueprint for some extravagant but compelling sequences that will maintain the entertainment boat afloat for 105 minutes. I recommend this flick to Ritchie fans who are blissful he dumped "Swept Away" and returned to the action genre.

This is an exceptional DVD transfer of an exceptional movie. Criterion has done a dazzling job of restoring Charade to its gleaming glory. The film is presented in its new 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The print is certain, crisp, and ravishing to study. You feel as if you can approach out and touch the actors.

And what actors! The film features the dashing older version of Cary Grant and the youthful gamine Audrey Hepburn, with enough chemistry between them to ignite a fireworks factory. The area is a convoluted and flimsy trifle about frosty war inspect shenanigans, with cases of unsuitable identity and episodes of grave distress for Miss Audrey. But Cary, the classic helpful guy in cad's clothing, is there to attach the day. In addition to which he provides chaste romance that sizzles beneath the civility.

Audio commentary is provided by director Stanley Donen and screenwriter Peter Stone. While appealing and humorous in spots, it does trek a bit over the length of the film. It may be better to check it out when you gain something in the film that you would like to hear dissected. Otherwise, you'd be better to stick with the savory, corny dialogue spoken in the dulcet tones of Cary and Audrey. The soundtrack music is to also to be savored, done up in classic '60s glimpse movie style by the movie maestro Henry Mancini.

If you have nothing to do on a rainy day and bear a DVD player, this is the movie you want to have on hand to pop in the machine and mumble you from care. It's a keeper (and it comes in a keeper case!) .

I got this DVD for Christmas and I wasn't disappointed. Stanley Donen, director of musicals such as "Singin' In The Rain" starring Gene Kelly, brought together Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn (who looks shimmering, as always) in this wonderfully-written memoir about a Parisian widow (Hepburn) who is being pursued by three perilous men (two of which are played by George Kennedy - an noble "heavy" - and James Coburn at his most menacing) who want to collect out about a vast sum of money her stupid husband supposedly had. Grant is the good stranger but eventually you inaugurate to wonder: is he working with these men? Does he want the money for himself? Or is he really the stunning, older man Audrey finds herself falling in care for with?

Enhanced by a lush find by the tedious Henry Mancini, photographed beautifully in Paris and containing superior acting and deliciously sinister dialogue by writer Peter Stone, "Charade" is a film that should be in every serious DVD collection. Grant is older but better, like sparkling wine, and Ms. Hepburn ... well there have been millions of words stale to relate her and I can't add to them other than to say the world lost a qualified talent at her death.

You'll indulge in "Charade" for a long, long time.

In regards to the uneducated 2.35:1 zealot reviewer, as a Director of Photography, I can area unequivocally that 2001 is supposed to be in 2.20:1 aspect ratio. It was shot in 2.20:1. It was not shot in Cinemascope (or anamorphic Panavision), which is 2.35:1. It was shot with straight lenses in Desirable Panavision 70 (65mm negative, 70mm projection print with soundtrack) . Well-kept Panavision 70 is a 2.20:1 aspect ratio format. When you are watching a 70mm print in a theater you are watching 2.20:1, which was never as wide as the anamorphic formats. Learn your aspect ratios.

Not to mention the fact that Kubrick went to the amazing distress of exposing his special effects composite shots as successive passes on the modern undeveloped 65mm negative (after it being held sometimes in refrigeration for up to a year or more waiting for the next pass) so that all the composite visual elements are first generation on the new camera negative, rather than the cheaper and more well-liked optical composite dupe negative inserts. Extraordinary. That is why it looks as honorable as it does. No optical negative generations.

A Pretty Film...and one of the best executions of the 70mm format ever.

A lawful Visual Masterpiece.

I got my hands on a copy the week before it came out and here are the extra parts that weren't in the initial release...even as bonus deleted scenes. I may have missed some...it has been some time since I have seen the movie.

My advice is to stick with the novel version. I have bought unrated DVDs before and this is the ONLY one where I regret doing so. Unless you are a straight man...which if you were, why are you buying this chick flick? That's about the only person who would devour the original additions. I literally cringe every time the unusual scenes near on. The theatrical version was sexy...but not in your face, trying procedure too hard to be sexy like this version.
"Coyote Shocking" has to be the best romantic dramedy this year, even though this year has had it's fraction of terrible romances-Autumn in Original York, Down to You and The Next Best Thing unprejudiced to name a few. The bar dancing scenes are fabulous accompanied by a fabulous soundtrack including one of my favorites, "Pour Some Sugar on Me". Plus there are two unusual colossal songs from LeAnn Rimes,who is also in the movie, but I'm not reviewing the soundtrack so I'll skip this. And that's impartial the stuff you peep in the previews. What you don't eye on the surface through the previews are the astronomical performances from newcomer Piper Perabo, Adam Garcia and the always stout John Goodman. the memoir is mainly about Piper Perabo's character, nicknamed Jersey, who goes into the grand city trying to glean someone to earn her well written songs. She runs into several problems with a original boyfriend, some disagreements with her father, and many crazy encounters at the bar "Coyote Hideous". The title is explained in the movie to mean when you go home with a one night stand after a night of mountainous drinking and you wake up with someone so hideous that you would rather chew your arm off than wake them up to know you're leaving. Gain me, you're not going to feel that intention leaving this one! Prefer THIS MOVIE!!!

Unfortunately, I didn't inspect great TV when 7th Heaven was originally airing so I am discovering it in reruns and am now trying to win all the DVDs. Every season is huge family entertainment and there is almost none of that on now with all the tiring, reality shows on TV. It really makes me long for the excellent worn days of early TV (50s and 60s and anything through the 90s is better than what is on today) . I highly recommend this for any family looking for something they can seek together.

I've been watching 7th Heaven since the first episode of the first season. Let me remark you it ends on top! It honest gets better and better and this season in particular is astonishing! 5 stars!

Clue is Paramount Pictures' comedic film rendering of the classic Parker Brothers board game of the same name. But don't let that dissuade you from seeing this one. Although you'll notice the chromatic character names, unlikely kill weapons, and Victorian mansion settings, tracking down the murderer in the movie version of Clue requires a grand deal more than a deck of cards and a notepad. (It's a lot more fun this design, too.)

Involving the talents of seven of Hollywood's funniest laughable people, including Madeline Kahn as Mrs. White, Christopher Lloyd as Professor Plum, and Tim Curry as Wadsworth, the requisite butler, the film is guaranteed to preserve you laughing. The script is packed with sparklingly witty exchanges, such as this one between Wadsworth and an enraged Colonel Mustard (Martin Mull) :

Mustard: Are you trying to accomplish me witness dreary in front of the other guests?

Later in the recount, as the by-now-blasé guests eye down at the most modern victim, Mr. Green (Michael McKean) updates the count to "Six murders." Wadsworth's grave response? And Wadsworth's explanation of "who killed whom where and with what" at the slay of the record is packed with the impersonations, facial expressions, and things not-quite-British that contemptible Tim Curry among the funniest Britons ever to defect to Hollywood.

Madeline Kahn, too, liberally sprinkles commentaries, both vocal and facial, into any and all situations, the sheer spontaneity of which acquire one wonder whether or not they're actually in the script. The line in the demonstrate which had me laughing the hardest, anyway, was not really a line at all, but rather a high-pitched, yodeling wail from Mrs. White. (You'll know it when you hear it.) And her operatic descant over the guests' chorus of "For She's a Jolly Ample Fellow" had me rolling in the aisle.

Another facet of the movie, disguised by the humor, but every bit as critical to one's enjoyment of the film, is the maze of leads, lies, and leaps of logic which ultimately culminates in not one, but three possible answers as to "Whodunnit." And here's the fabulous part: each of the three endings (I checked) stands up to discontinuance scrutiny of the clues provided earlier in the film. From the time Wadsworth verifies Yvette's mysterious "instructions" until the last pull of the trigger, each runt detail is principal to the area. A word of warning to the dedicated popcorn-munching detective: the guests at this dinner party are all experts at using comedy to distract. While you're busy laughing at Miss Scarlet in the ballroom, a desperate dinner guest wielding a monkey wrench is hurrying through the secret passage to the observe, trying to silence that uncomfortable motorist before he says too mighty....

The film isn't perfect-the physical humor becomes strained at times, and there are a very few lines whose comedic and textual value I quiz. Collected, the film bears enough friendly comedy and obsolete mystery, garnished with a sound track that adds objective the suitable spice to the flavor of both humor and suspense, to score a "five-star comedy" rating from me.

This is one of my common films of all time. It's loaded with outragous, funny slapstick humor and the entire cast is apt! You'll be amazed at how many of the lines and gags fetch stuck in your head. I'll never be able to forget the flusterd looks of Mrs. Peacock, the wit and charm of Wadsworth or the subtle facial expressions of Mrs. White. Thankfully I'll be able to leer all this and more as Clue is finally presented in anamorphic widescreen! The characterize is the best yet of this film since it's initial release, but there are moments when the image appears too soft and the entire presentation leans to the unlit side (no Star Wars pun intended) . The darkness though, does attend to heighten the mystery/suspense aspect of Clue. From a purists point of opinion it's safe that the soundtrack is kept in it's novel mono, collected I'd greatly delight in hearing a stero or, even better, a surround sound version in the future. Unfortunately there are only 13 chapter stopsincluded on the DVD. Any film requires at least double this amount to be really effective.

Without a doubt the best feature of this DVD is the multiple endings feature. After you capture "play" you will be asked if you would lilke the player to randomly determine one of the three endings for you, or behold all three of them at the raze. Whoever notion of this feature deserves a raise as it greatly enhances the longevity of the disc and brings the film closer to it's board game roots. Now you have the option of really not gleaming who did it until the final scenes play bringing suprise into the untold disclose viewings that are definite to occur.

The technical imperfections mentioned before are limited and I bear are primarilly due to current production decisions and the films age. To create a long review short (too behind), this is a must bear for any fan of one of the numerous stars, comedy or film firsts. You won't be disappointed.

This collection contains the second best installment in the "Elements of Robotechnology" series. Here's a rundown:

1.Robotech Deleted Scenes: As most know, Robotech was made by editing together three separate Japanese Anime series: Macross, Southern Contemptible and Mospeada. TONS of edits had to be made to seamlessly edit them together. Presented here is a Great collection of chop footage, totaling about an hours worth of notion time. Overall, this is definitely a must-see. The clips are presented in Japanese.

2.Merchandise Gallery: Slideshow presentation format of various galleries of Robotech merchandise plot to the Robotech theme (which you'll be sick of hearing afterward) . TONS of merchandising (clothes, toys, books, games, videos, etc) was done for Robotech. Approximately 20 minutes worth of footage.

3.Robocon 10 Footage: This was supposed to be interviews with talent at a Robotech convention done in 1996, but IT WASN'T ON MINE. No link or whatever. Searching through the chapters though I found two commercials for Robotech. DO I HAVE AN UNINTENDED COLLECTOR'S ITEM HERE???

4.Video Game Clips: Two clips for two Robotech based video games. Clip 1 for an unreleased N64 game. Not abominable, kinda likes like Starfox and those Star Wars X-wing/Tie Fighter shoot-em up games. Clip 2 for a soon to be released next-gen system game. AWESOME graphics. Looks like a keeper.

5.International Clips: Two scenes of Robotech in French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. Clip 1: Rand peeping on the girls at Annie's party, Clip 2: The Regess confronts the gang in the Hive. Clip 3: A Robotech Pepsi commercial in Spanish???

THE VERDICT:

Many feel that the Unusual Generation chronicle arc is the best out of all three of the Robotech record arcs, including the Macross Saga, and with righteous reason. The ultra-cool mecha and the ULTRA-INTENSE action as the freedom fighters literally accelerate and fight for their lives against the Invid and perform their scheme through a post-apocalyptic and treacherous world is awesome!!

If you've never seen Robotech, simply place YOU MUST. The action and the drama are compelling, clearly showing why Robotech became a pop culture icon. It is the series that forever achieve Japanese anime on the intention in the US. If you did grow up with Robotech, give these a spy again. They're ample for a skedaddle down memory lane. You can't lose!!! Hopefully someday a sequel will finally be made to tie-up some of the loose ends.

Highest Recommendation

This boxed region is generally astronomical, however, there are two major problems with it.

Firstly, if you're planning to earn a first edition version, gold box version of ther Legacy Collection 7 (Recent Generation), be aware of two flaws:

(1) The other box for Novel Generation Legacy boxed residence (#6) is green. The gold box for #7 is mistake, and ADV will be re-releasing a second pressing with a box in green that matches soon.

(2) Any references on the first printing to convention footage in the extras is inaccurate. They couldn't regain the rights. It's not included and the packaging and advertising is execrable. This will be corrected in the second printing (green box version)

Secondly, my extras disk had a outlandish spot with it under the Southern Defective deleted scenes. One deleted scene, a long shot of Nova Satori, was dwelling at the raze of track. My Sony DVD player hiccuped on it and wouldn't exhibit it. I don't now if this is a spot with my DVD, my DVD player or the DVD pressing itself.

I suspect strongly that it's the DVD itself, possibly with a screwed up pressing, as my DVD player had no jam with the rest of the disk, and since it occured at 0:00 left on the track (as per my indicate) . I mediate the Master disc may have been wicked, especially given all other mistakes on the gold box release.

My advice - wait for the green box re-release. I hope ADV will have fixed all these bugs in that version.

If there is one thing that two seasons of the often underwhelming TV series Masters Of Fright gave us, it was a rejuvinated Dario Argento. The Italian director delivered a pair of entries(Jenifer and Pelts) that stand not only as some of the best from the series, but also some of the best material(and most indecent) that he had done in nearly 10 years(Opera from 1987 being his last immense work in my concept), and showcased that he level-headed had the ability to disturb and entertain. Gone was noteworthy of his illustrious trademarks-- inventive camerawork, exercise of heavy colored lighting, and artistic quirkiness; which were now replaced with more straightforward and solid pacing and scenes of gross grue. With Mother Of Tears, Argento uses that same aforementioned formula from his Masters Of Dread episodes, except now stretched into full-length originate AND feeble to complete his 28-years-in-the-making "mothers" trilogy of films(begining in 1977 with Suspiria, and it's sequel Inferno from 1980) . The movie follows Sarah(poorly acted by Dario's possess daughter Asia Argento), a museum worker who unwittingly unleashes the substandard of the Mother of Tears on Rome when she opens an outmoded cask... hijinx ensue and feature some of the Italian maestro's most good moments of depravity ever, including(but not petite to) stangulation by one's bear intestines, baby cannibalism, and impalement(Cannibal Holocaust style!) . Throw in some solid atmoshere, brisk pacing, tons of nudity(even some full-frontal for the gents), and a fantasic jump dismay towards the middle of the movie(so agreeable I had to observe it twice in a row), and we have a determined winner here(all that was missing was a soundtrack by Goblin) . Between the joy of seeing Dario Argento's return from Hacksville(where Tobe Hooper and George Romero unfortunately mild reside) and the amount of fun watching this provided, I have no choice but to exclaim a rare 5 star rating... not to mention that I feel the film does get some unnecassarily harsh critism due to Argento being the director; let's face it, if this was some nobody new out of film school he'd be heralded as the "next tall thing" in awe cinema. Serene, this isn't a moral return to execute for Argento as far as his classic style is concerned... it IS a return for Argento to making a astronomical apprehension movie though(and that's a open good? ) -- ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!

There seems to be alot of mixed reviews for Dario Argento's Mother Of Tears, the latest conclusion to the trilogy of the three mothers which began with Susperia and followed up with Inferno. It's the type of film that you either like or despise, while the film wasn't exactly perfect I aloof notion it was quite luscious and very piquant. The main reason why some people were complaining was because of the acting was atrocious, I also agree with this but then again Argento's films are known for their abominable acting so I'm already obsolete to that and the storyline was incoherent and there were a couple of feeble characters but what really makes this film big was the stylish cinematography and over the top death and gore scenes which were unbiased extraordinary, there was some stuff in here that was truly monstrous even for me and I didn't even put a question to that.

Dario Argento aloof knows how to produce an artistic death scene, he definitely has not lost his touch. I honestly concept it was device better than most of his unusual stuff. And to assume that some Argento fans were disappointed by this, the film was big but it did have a few flaws but all these flaws aside I have to admit that it was his best film in years. Anyway the film was about a mysterious urn, which is dug up during an excavation. The urn is then sent to Rome Italy for peep where an archeologist named Sarah (Asia Argento) gets her hands on the mysterious object and proceeds to view it alongside her friend Giselle. However when Giselle is brutally murdered before Sarah can even open the background check on the artifact, she begins to realize that something scandalous lurks within the urn and it has it's sights situation specifically on her. Fright and chaos is unleashed upon Rome and Sarah who is very skeptical of the occult discovers that she has some exceptional powers. After witnessing a grizzly cancel, the ominous kidnapping of a friend's son and a group of witches that seem intent on killing her, she goes on a quest to gain the cause gradual the madness and peruse the extent of her powers. The state might sound cheesy but its not, the film had a very unique and sad atmosphere and it had a couple of creepy and horrific scenes that are guaranteed to satisfy any hardcore Argento fan. Theres this one scene that starts off at the beggining of the film where Gisele who is Sarah's friend gets disembowled then gets strangled by her occupy intestines while being stabbed repeatedly in the mouth and stomach and its all shown in graphic detail, that basically shows how gory this film is. There is also a short but laughable cameo from Udo Kier as a priest who helps out Sarah.

Mother Of Tears definitely feels and looks like an Argento film. It has the Italian setting, the spend of some Italian dialogue and alot of bloody moments. Then there's also the exclusive, creepy and odd moments which Argento is illustrious for adding into his label of terror films. The account of the movie is spellbinding and very eerie, as it follows the third witch of the "Mother" series The Mother Of Tears, a witch who thrives and derives her powers from the damage, suffering, and death of others. Along with the power to drive people to execute, suicide, and madness she also has many followers, including a group of witches. As you'll leer in the film most of these witches have really abominable hair and makeup and some of their acting was map over the top and amusing. Anyway the film was definitely worth while and was nicely shot with some ample atmosphere and locations and plenty of memorable scenes in it making this one of Dario Argento's best although Asia's acting could have been alot better, I highly recommend this to Italian terror fans check it out.

I watched the sub of this display, and on my plan to select this up. Fair to accumulate some perspective the Japanese title is Souko no Strain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soukou_no_Strain) . This was one of the most memorable 13 episode series I've seen. The tempo of the series is like, now net ready for this, the first half of the first season of Death Notice. It really surprises you, and is modern due to the tale. I believe the person who'll luxuriate in this is someone who would devour Gunparade March. Where you don't stare it for the mecha, exactly, but for what station the character finds themselves in. If you go into this series looking for pure action, you won't be necessarily disappointed, but for me, it wasn't the point. The point was the struggle the main character found herself in and how she worked through it. I recommend a gaze for the points mentioned above.

Str.A.In., which is an acronym for Strategic Armored Infantry, is one of those rare titles that manages to grab a firm contain of the viewer's attention by indulging in an action-loaded, rip roaring streak from the first episode factual on through the thirteenth (and final) episode. It is marketed to appeal to mecha fans and indeed; it will state in spades to those looking for a self-contained saga on par with some of the Gundam franchise entries. The fable centers on a young woman by the name of Sara Werec (who happens to be quite reminiscent of Dana Honorable from Robotech Masters fame) . Our friend Sara, like her older brother Ralph, is a Reasoner; basically an elite pilot who patrols in one of the military's most advanced weapons: the insect-like robotic units called Strains.

Strains require a very new interface to operate that is based on the merging of amniotic fluid and computer technology called a Mimic. It is explained early on that should a pilot's Mimic be destroyed, their ability to operate a Strain is eliminated as well.

The beginning share of the prove sets up Sara's almost incestual obsession with her older brother Ralph and how this obsession has ultimately led to her decision to follow in his footsteps by joining the Union military.

It turns out that there is a massive interstellar war being raged between human factions. Our protagonists fight on the side of the Union against a slightly more mysterious group known as the Deague (pronounced "Deeg") .

The legend really heats up once older brother Ralph begins leading a series of assaults against the Union by targeting training facilities. What ensues is sibling rivalry on the grandest scale.

What the show's entire structure boils down to is balance- Balance between hard-core science fiction (the likes of which would fit legal in with a Star Spin motion characterize or Gundam series for that matter) with bouncing breasts and panty flashes. Balance between hardened warring factions and juvenile lesbian encounters. Balance between richly drawn character models and computer generated situation battles. For the most portion, the formula works. About the biggest flaw in the whole structure comes in the effect of a lead character who takes entirely too long to warm up to. Granted she does endure a succession of heartbreaks, heartaches, and honest general misery but the viewer more than pays the mark. Things do eventually improve on this front so long as you're willing to endure several episodes of drone-like behavior with supporting cast bending over backward to enlighten their worship or hatred of the lead character.

I should tag that Studio Fantasia deserves credit for bringing a ravishing frosty visual style to the mecha element (a genre that must surely feel as if it's all been done before when developing) . The Strains not only watch like giant mechanized insects (something between a bee and a lady bug in flight), they also fade like them as well. Grand of the combat sequences win area at the hasten in which the units actually proceed (meaning close-ups with blurred backgrounds), we are treated to occasional angles of the Strains duking it out from a distance. They zip, zing, and zoom around each other like a pair of hungry hummingbirds. Suddenly the importance of an interface like the Mimic becomes certain.

Without a doubt the show's greatest strength lies within its pacing. I can go as far as to say that Strain contains the most explosive first episode that this author has yet to encounter. By the time the credits move to shaded, you'll be left catching your breath while thinking, was all that really unbiased the first episode? The pacing slows a bit in subsequent episodes but considering that it has only 13 episodes with which to reveal its chronicle, there are few, if any, dragged out moments. The action-laden scramble is quite consistent as well with the only exception coming in the fabricate of the seventh episode where a contrived attempt at humor puts the focus on an obsessed lesbian's attempt to pick up Sara's affection.

Otherwise the expose maintains a nice scientific reach to spot proceed, galactic distances, alien cultures, and so on. Politics are always in the foreground, which makes the battle scenes feel powerful more provoked and quintessential to survival.

Both language options are quite solid and in fact the dub really goes the distance to hold the current script. The English cast reads like a who's who in terms of Funimation's vocal talent and the actress commentary over the sixth episode will convince even lottery winners that they're missing out on the best job in the world.

In all Strain is an animated mecha entry that will satisfy fans of the genre with a solid mixture of classical elements coupled to the animation benefits of computer technology. Kudos to Funimation for snagging this underrated property and brining it to the American masses that, like yours truly, can never have too remarkable mecha.

The First Avant Garde collection from Kino International is my all time common film collection. I was therefore quite exited when I learned that Kino was issuing another one. The following review is my humble idea of this collection.

I have to admit that Avant Garde 2 is far from as excellent as the first one. The transfer is better (almost perfect) and the sound/music is really top-notch, but many of the films are honest kitsch. Some of the films are lively while few of them are really apt.

Almost all of the films are from USA which may account for the weakness of this collection (Avant Garde came tedious to maturity in America) . Coriously the most celebrated American Avant Garde film is missing from this collection, Namely "Meshes of the Afternoon" by Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid. It does how ever have four early films by Brackage and two of them are really worthy ("Interim" and "Unglassed Windows Cast a Poor Reflection") . The third sterling American film in this collection is the classic "The Drop of the House of Usher" by James Watson and Melville Webber (the transfer of the film is extraordinary) .

There are three French films on the disk and all of them are generous ("Pacific 231", "Arriere saison" and "Venom and Eternity") . Venom and Eternity is a classic Avant Garde masterpiece (presented in a longer version than previously seen in the USA; a 111 min. version) . It has not lost any of its punches and is a must view for anyone alive to in Avant Garde and the limits (and the nature) of the Film language.

To sum it up. There are 17 films in this collection, 6 of them are really sterling, about 4 are exciting, but the rest is kitsch (IMO) .

This is an vital collection of avant-garde titles from the 1940s and 1950s containing some very rare films. The films of Brakhage (at least his early titles), Marie Menken, Sidney Peterson, James Broughton and Gregory Markopoulos are all difficult to stare and it is extremely distinguished to have them in this collection. These are all major artists of the period who should be better known. Apart from Brakhage, who has a incredible collection available on a Criterion disc, most of the these filmmakers' films have not been availble on DVD in the past. They are crucial to the early development of the American avant-garde in what has often been referred to as its "psycho-dramatic" or "trance" period. Whether we refer to them as psychodramas, trance films or simply poetic avant-garde films is not really what matters. They are indispensable films and helped account for what the medium was pleasant of, as well as redefining the view of poetic cinema.
It's big to finally gawk Sidney Peterson's first film (made with James Broughton) on DVD (The Potted Psalm) as well as a Workshop 20 production made with students at the California School of Blooming Arts (The Cage) . I'd also savor to peruse The Lead Shoes and Mrs. Frenhofer and the Monotaur finally released on DVD - perhaps in another future collection. Peterson is one of the few accurate surrealists of the cinema, and his work is mind-bendingly modern. Markopoulos has been inaccessible for decades, so to have even one film (Christmas, USA) by him is distinguished. Again more Markolpoulos next time. Broughton's films are available in a more complete, separate collection, so his film (Adventures of Jimmy) is less crucial to have but is nonetheless a welcome addition to the package. It's also substantial to have a couple of rare Brakhage titles (Interim, Unglassed Windows Cast a Awful Reflection, and The Plan to Shadow Garden.) The Watson and Webber version of The Drop of the House of Usher is very essential and logically should have appeared in volume 1 of this series along with Lot in Sodom which was on that collection. Nonetheless, I'm gay it's here. The collection also contains some European work that is beneficial to have (especially the film by Dimitri Kirsanov) . I'm not a huge fan of the long Isou film (Venon and Eternity) but I'm positive there will be those who can argue why it is notable, especially to the development of a positive anarchic strain in European avant-garde (both film and theory) . I'll idea it again in the hopes that I can witness its importance.
All in all, this collection will give you a dependable peep into the avant-garde film of the era and is a must have for anyone alive to in experimental cinema. The absence of Maya Deren's films is grand but should not dissuade anyone from purchasing what is clearly a major release. (Deren's films are contained in another collection available on DVD.)

So many of our friends and family regret the decision of A & E and the Biography channels not to renew this classic British series. It is pure escapism and deliciously photographed in the incredible English countryside. John Nettles is everyman's hard working police inspector - cynical, darkly humourous and wholly believable. The cast and characters are comprised of suitable eccentrics (as only the Brits can be) and one never knows what lies around the next corner in one of the charming Midsomer Counties villages. If anyone of the powers that be in the programing offices of any network are reading this, please reconsider returning Inspector Barnaby and his confreres to their rightful status on our side of the Pond. They are sorely missed!

I've unbiased received "station 11" of the MIdSomer Murders series. Unfortunately, I believed it was "series 11" -- turns out it is only "series 9" which was filmed in 2005. Series 11 aired this past year.

I can only hope at least a million people remove this Tarzan DVD position. I pre-ordered it a couple months ago when I first saw it was available to order. As a child I watched these on Sunday afternoons. They were a mainstay for any kids TV diet in the 1950s and 1960s. I have to say that after dining on the majority of Tarzan movies my taste became partial to Johnny Weismueller. The fact that he was an Olympian swimmer, had the best Tarzan yodel, and his acting seemed to fit a kid raised in the jungle. It was a blast watching him wrestle crocodiles and lions and call elephants to tramble the abominable guys. We can only hope that interest in this site may prompt them to release the rest of his Tarzan movies. I for one loved them all, even if the special effects were a tiny hokey sometimes. By todays standards the F/X will seem amusing, but calm fun to stare. This place has the best production values and casting of all the Tarzan movies.

I've been waiting for these films to be released on DVD ever since I got my DVD player in January, 2001. I was born in 1954 and grew up watching them on TV. Tarzan was without a doubt my accepted hero and Johnny Weissmuller was Tarzan. One of the biggest thrills of my youth was meeting Johnny when he came to my hometown in 1967. He gave me two photos of himself which I composed have. The packaging of this dwelling is beneficial, first class all the device. The documentary is very curious. I only wish that Johnny Sheffield could have been interviewed. It was gargantuan to peep Cheeta unexcited going strong at 72 years obsolete. The theatrical trailers were fun to inspect, and the other "special features" were astronomical, also. I especially enjoyed the short documentary shot during the filming of "Tarzan Finds A Son" at Silver Springs, Florida. Before I purchased the site, I was concerned about the relate quality of the six feature films.But, when I watched them, I was very contented. After years of seeing them on TV, it was respectable to thought them via the high resolution of the DVD format. When and if the six RKO Tarzan/Weissmuller films are released on DVD, I pray that Warner Video will do the honors.

I learned about "Lady In Cement" during my childhood. At least the song, for I saw it as one of the tracks on Paul Desmond's "Summertime" picture album, which my unhurried father owned. When I listened to it, it had the rhythm of a suspenseful crime drama. As I got older and read the information inside the Paul Desmond album, I discovered "Lady In Cement" was a motion narrate crime drama, starring Frank Sinatra.

I liked "Tony Rome" (1967) . But I procure "Lady In Cement" (1968) a more suspenseful mystery. Rome (Sinatra) makes a unsightly discovery while scuba diving in a Florida bay: the nude body of a attractive blonde is found with her feet encased in a block of cement. Hence, the "Lady In Cement".

I've viewed the 'Undersea Discovery' sequence many times, trying to ponder how was that enact achieved. It isn't a special do, for everything was clearly done underwater. And I'm quite distinct scuba divers were nearby off-camera supplying air to Todd when she needed it. Despite I can swim, I am unable to beget my mouth begin underwater prolonged, without me sputtering!

Ignore the screen of the DVD. The worship interest is really a minor fragment of this astonishing British miniseries which follows an RAF squadron through the "Phoney War" (September 1939 - May 1940), the battle for France (May-June 1940), and the Battle of Britain through its climax in the drop of 1940.

This is not your usual squadron of movie heroes. For starters, the squadron commander seems to consume more time working on the wine list than thinking about strategy. As for flying, he wants them to coast into battle in straight, wingtip-to-wingtip formations like a marching band. The pilots are for the most share upper class elites tickled with the leader's 'fox and hounds' demeanor. Some of the pilots are not especially likeable, particularly "Moggy", a boarding-school bully who, it turns out, is an ace killer. The one "Yank", a Canadian socialist and worn of the Spanish Civil War, gets to smirk at the upper crust poseurs.

It's a apt mix, and for the first six months of the war, there's not a lot of go at the Boche, and what is astronomical about the series is the shock and surprise when the war begins in earnest. The battle scenes are as well done as the mountainous mask "Battle of Britain", except we really know these characters by the time the proper war hits. Some excel, some crack, and some pack it in. One character starts to speaking exclusively in quotes from Churchill speeches, unnerving the squadron adjutant. This is the one I bought (ISBN 0-7820-1057-1, ASIN: B00000I1KV) . It has "John Wayne Collection" printed on a green band at the top. Its special features include "The Making of the Unexcited Man" documentary & the theatrical trailer. DON'T Hold THIS VERSION, PLEASE. The sound is decent, but the recount is absolutely terrible: blurry and stout of splotches, almost unwatchable.

"Collector's Edition"

Apparently, the sound and represent quality are okay on the "Collector's Edition" DVD (ASIN: B00006JMRD), whose special features include Commentary by Maureen O'Hara, the theatrical trailer, "The Joy of Ireland" documentary with Maureen O'Hara, "Remembering The Unexcited Man" Montage, and "The Making of The Serene Man."
I will not, as some feel famous, go over the story/characters/performances of this film. Suffice to say, this is one the most luscious films ever made, blarney or not.

Rather, what I would like to briefly comment on is the utterly pathetic transfer of this classic film to DVD. It states quite clearly on the relieve of the camouflage that this film has been digitally remastered. I took that to mean both video and audio. Contemptible. The report quality of this DVD is unsightly, one of the worst I have ever seen. Bear me when I say this -- the VHS version I purchased in 1991 has a better video clarity than this. At times it's actually difficult to form out the actors features. The company gradual this, ARTISAN I acquire they are called, should be ashamed. I have a copy of the recently released and remastered CASABLANCA DVD. That film was made in 1942, yet it looks as if it was fair made, such is the sharpness of the video. The Unruffled Man deserved the same treatment, but didn't glean it. Shame on ARTISAN.

If you've ever went camping or trekking and sat around the camp with time on your hands, the Dr. B's soap bottle is absorbing read. Until I watched this DVD, didn't know what was the motivation unhurried those words. This is a myth from the long line of genius/eccentrics wrong for lunatics, and how the lucky rush brought about a stout clear for the world--a cohesive philosophy, product, and company in the best sense of the environmental movement. The memoir tedious the father-sons relationship is very touching, and effectively humanizes (humorously in some parts, to boot) this film. The word plan that came to my mind as I watched Dr. B spoke: metaphysical -kinetic.

My complaint about this film, the sage line is horribly disjointed. There doesn't seem to be a begining and an end; it honest sort of wanders all over Dr. Bronner's life; tossing in childhood one moment, grandchildren the next, adulthood next, and then children another. After watching this film, I'm hard pressed to announce you Dr. Bronner's life history.

The Bronner company does some shapely things - hasty forward to the last chapter of the DVD, 4 minutes left. The things they do is considerable (70% of gather profits are given to charity; no executive of the company makes more than 5 times the salary of the lowest paid vested worker) - now that's putting your money where your mouth is. The DVD bonus feature, an interview with one of the grandsons 2 years after the filming is incredible. Bottom line, this company was doing things many years ago that are unprejudiced now seen as principal.

The weird thing about this film, it's not a very pleasant film or documentary. It's almost as if a fanboy was star struck by the company and wanted to create something that holds it device up on high. Bronner was a zealout that ignored his family for a higher cause. We hear that, its told to us; but it isn't explored very deeply. The children, especially Ralph, exercise a lot of time on camera nattering on about not remarkable. The grandchildren were the really brilliant ones, and should have been on camera powerful more. At one point a woman named Gladys is interviewed and talks about some outlandish things. Later on, we acquire out that was Dr. Bronner's 4th wife. Out of the blue, no context, no what happened to number 2, and 3 (we know number 1 died shortly after the children were born)? And then Gladys joins the nattering about not a lot.

But nobody ever does any of those things. But according to our delicate friend the MPAA, this film would have probably gotten an R rating for that one exchange about drug consume.

The DVD includes a couple of bonus features. The interview with one of the grandchildren is a must behold, 17 minutes.

Worth watching if you've read the impress.

Okay, a four hour gangster movie is not going to be everyone's cup of tea, especially when the pacing is absolutely glacial and DeNiro and Woods aren't on-screen for about half that time because of a childhood flashback that's longer than some pudgy movies. But, if you catch this movie on the terms director Sergio Leone sets, it's a richly rewarding cinemeatic experience. I've heard the film described as "an opium dream of a gangster movie" and the pacing seems to account for such a response. But it's tiring, and richly detailed, and a dinky uncommon at times, for very agreeable reasons that pay off in spades by the film's emotionally immense (though slightly anti-climactic} finale.

Despite what can seem like turgidness on first viewing, this film is likely to stick to your ribs and merit declare screenings. DeNiro smolders throughout, while James Woods delivers a teriffic scenery-chewing performance. The account is friendship (and betrayal, of course) --or is it Romulus and Remus? Greek tragedy, perhaps? Godfather parts 1 and 2 rolled into one film? Yes, and more. And viewers familliar with Leone only through his spagetti westerns are in for a surprise: Leone is a world-class film-maker here, excellent of pleasing beauty and cruelty, often within the same frame.

Does it really need to be this boring? Does the flashback to childhood need to be almost and hour and a half long (don't worry--it's fascinating enough in its contain correct to sustain you from noticing)? Does the the chronology need to be so screwy? Does that darn phone need to ring so long? Absolutely.

Fans of Woods, DeNiro, Leone, or gangster movies in general canot afford to pass this film up. The supporting cast, especially the young actors playing the gang members in thier childhood, is also consistently stellar. Best viewed on a cool frosty afternoon when you've got plenty of time. "Once Upon A Time In America" is director, Sergio Leone's delicate account of organized crime and the destruction it unleashes into the lives of four life-long friends. Robert DeNiro headlines a cast of huge talent that includes Joe Pesci, Treat Williams and James Woods. When this film first premiered in 1984 it was 229 minutes. However, the subject matter was considered so violent and grisly, and the amble so methodically expressionless that nearly 40 minutes were excised for general exhibition, rendering the myth line practically incomprehensible. I am elated to say that this original 2-disc station at last gives us the account as it was originally intended, stout of robust characterizations, inviting action sequences and filled with the sort of memorable moments that have reminded me why we all go to the movies - to be entertained (not overwhelmed with way-too-many, ultra-slick digital effects!) .

Warner Brothers 2 disc dwelling does have its drawbacks. First, the movie itself is spread over two discs and, there is no polite device to say it, the interruption is obtrusive. The demolish happens apt in the middle of a crucial scene. Interruption aside, the DVD is marred by powerful film grain and a bit of digital grit that perform most of the images digitally harsh instead of creamy quiet. Many scenes offer powerful clarity and depth while others, mostly night time or shadowy scenes suffer from a loss of lovely detail that disappears into a haze of undistinguished muddy blacks, browns and blues. Edge enhancement, pixelization, intelligent and aliasing are point to throughout the transfer, sometimes distractingly so. The audio is remixed 5.1 and is strident and lacking in tonal bass.

Extras: Pleasing grand a retrospective and audio commentaries. Some toss away stuff. That's it, that's all!

BOTTOM LINE: For its sheer mastery in the art of cinema myth telling, I recommend "Once Upon A Time In America". The transfer leaves something to be desired but hey, it's nice to have this American classic assist in the spotlight and, finally, in its chubby running time.

Finally, the Masked Fighter must step in to succor in the brilliantly titled episode: Ambition Destroyed: A Trial by Light. The Dr. Ichigaki team fight is very emotional and the emotional side sometimes overpowers the action itself, which is fair in this fight. The Doctor himself is a accurate villain who you worship to detest true up until Yusuke shows him the error of his ways.

Again, these episodes are extremely focused around action with some emotion, so if action isn't your thing, you may not appreciate this. Detached, there are some comic moments and Yu Yu Hakusho is a terrific point to. I recommend this DVD to all fans of anime.

And even worse, Kurama and a badly injured Hiei are being attacked outside the stadium. Then Team Urameshi is pitted against a team of lethal ninja with no time to rest. Even worse, Hiei and the Masked Fighter have been tricked into a forcefield, and Kuwabara is badly injured.

Kurama is pitted against a master of body paint who imprisons his body and demon powers, and then a lethal ice master who intends to win advantage of his helplessness. With Kurama half-dead from his wounds, Yusuke sets off on a excited string of fights, against the honorless thug Bakken and the quirky Irish wind demon Jin. But it may not be enough to triumph...

The first and second collections of "Yu Yu Hakusho" basically consisted of a string of smaller adventure arcs, with Yusuke working to vanquish the villain of the week. But "Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike" takes a very different format -- instead we secure a series of one-on-one fights. It sounds a bit tedious, but the various superpowers -- and some keen side subplots, such as Sakyo's machinations -- preserve it from being so.

The fights themselves are fair gleaming -- killer plants, ice, blood paint, fire dragons, itsy-bitsy tornados, killer robots, and a warrior who can coat himself in clay armor. So needless to say, the battles are fairly bright and there's really no map of telling how some of them will turn out. The whole subplot about Dr. Ichigaki and his helpless guinea pigs is attractive wrenching, although the ending is a bit limp.

But equally titillating are the stories outside the ring -- Toguro and his equally villainous partner Sakyo are doing some behind-the-scenes scheming, although Toguro's kindly side is also glimpsed. It adds a bit of spice to Team Urameshi's forthcoming battles with Team Toguro, because a lot more than their lives are now riding on their victory.

Yusuke spends the first few episodes sleeping like a talking log -- he does some fair pleasurable fights, and we pick up to contemplate his inconvenience when Kurama and Kuwabara are being slowly killed in front of him. Hiei is badly injured in an attempt to master a unusual technique, and Kurama's abilities are stretched to the limit when he has to somehow defeat an Ice Master without his abilities.

Kuwabara is the only one who doesn't change great, but he serves as the kind heart of the team, and even fights when he can barely stand for his friends' sake. And he provides some laughable relief, such as when he sees his beloved Yukina watching his fight.

"Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike" is basically an escalating string of supernatural fights, but it's vivid enough to not be slow. It ends on a solid designate, and promises to come by even more appealing.

Those statements showed his frustration at God for allowing him to become deaf so he could no longer listen to his compositions but had to rely on a earpiece or on vibrations. Later on, as the film progresses, Beethoven discovers how God speaks to him through music and he makes his peace with God through composing a hymn of thanksgiving towards the demolish of his life. His dialogue to Anna about how he can sense the teach of God through music were very inspiring.

The scenes of Beethoven composing are the most memorable scenes in this movie for me -- he clearly has the expansive gift of being able to share together all the musical forms in his head. These scenes reminded me of "Amadeus" when Mozart was able to peruse how all the different parts of different instruments near together in his symphonic compositions.

All this aside, I felt that the movie was very worthwhile to stare. It was a very provocative and inspirational portrait of Beethoven. In fact, I mediate it is the best portrayal of Beethoven for a feature film. It is a powerful better film on Beethoven than "Immortal Beloved" (which I assume was very chaotic and unorganized) .

If you're a classical music lover and a Beethoven fan, this movie is well-worth watching. I absorb you'll be impressed by Harris' acting.

This film was not given a lovely shake with theatre distribution. Patrick Swayze's performance was very convincing as an innocent man released from prison after serving a long sentence, when original evidence proved the sinister man was convicted. He appeared pale, as you would quiz of a person spending so mighty time locked tedious bars. Due to a chain of events beyond his control, he is stalked by a killer, one of several women who had been writing to him while he was in prison. Not having a clue as to who is trying to ruin him, a suspenseful pursuit ensues. During filming of a scene where he is fleeing on horseback, his horse bolted and Swayze struck a tree, suffering severe injuries. Trooper that he is, he managed to effect the film (it is noticeable how worthy harm he is in during the process), but with vast pains. Since he is one of the few stars who always felt he should do his have stunt work, he was nearly fatally injured.

This film kept me in suspense to the very extinguish. I give it your top rating.

I guess TAPES FROM A KILLER Didn't have the selling point? Anyway, what ever happened to Patrick Swayze? After RED DAWN and DIRTY DANCING, seemed like he had everything going for him. His performance in this lukewarm thriller isn't unpleasant, but it's not inspired, either. He does some really dreary things, and one can't serve but wonder why the screenplay made him so gullible and thoughtless. He's surrounded by four women he wrote to while on Death Row, and then after given a novel trial, he's released. Quandary is while in prison, the despicable head guard, played with like by Michael Bowen, switched the tapes he was sending and all four women found out he was leading all of them on. One of them has vowed revenge and wants him encourage on death row. The script playfully points the finger at one of the ladies, played by Gia Carides. But is she guilty? Carides and Kim Meyer as the southern belle Gloria outact Swayze, and Roger E. Moseley as Horton, the reliable guard and Bruce McGill as the head FBI agent lend salubrious benefit. It's not a surprising movie, but it holds your interest.

Dinosaurs was a cutting edge comedy that was definitely before its time.

This cannot truly be considered animation nor a puppet note. Each character had two performers. The first was an actor in a dinosaur costume that did the visual. The second was a suppose actor. This created a original hybrid.

Add to this a writing team that was not shrinking to accomplish fun of itself. (Mammoth scene - The family is watching Unsolved Mysteries when Robert Stack says, the next episode we will investigate why people study this present when a powerful better point to is on another network. --At that time Unsolved Mysteries was Dinosaur's competition.)

If you like non-stop action and spacious special effects then 'The Mummy Returns' is worth watching. Wrestling fans will be overjoyed to discover 'The Rock' cast as the Scorpion King. Female fans of Oded Fehr, the Israeli actor, will be pleased to behold him cast again as the dashing Egyptian horseman and fighter Ardeth Bay.

Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) and Evie (Rachel Weisz) are married in this sequel and have a young son who does a capable job of keeping the villains on their toes. Evie is supposed to be a reincarnation of Nefertiti, the Pharaoh's daughter. Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), the Pharaoh's high priest, and Anck-Su-Namun (Patricia Velazquez), the priest's paramour, are brought benefit to life to fight the Scorpion King and acquire control of the army of Anoubis, the murky god of the underworld.

Some movie buffs have expressed reservations about the historical inaccuracies in both 'The Mummy' and 'The Mummy Returns'. However, these inaccuracies are not offensive to Egyptian Culture. This movie is merely a work of fiction. Some scenes and dialogs may seem to be cliched. Several scenes are a rehash of 'The Mummy'. The characters in the movie jokingly admit to the 'same passe demolish of the world' state.

Even with all its cliches, this movie is worth watching.

Anyone looking for a "huge" movie will probably be disappointed, but anyone looking for sheer fun will probably be more than glad. Director Steven Sommers took his palatable 1999 movie "The Mummy" and expanded it out to an record scale. The action picks up 10 years after the original; tomb raiders Evelyn and Rick O'Connell (now married, with 8-year-old child Alex in tow) glimpse another Egyptian artifact (the bracelet of the legendary Scorpion King) that unleashes yet another worry to the world, and once again, Evie and Rick have to conclude it.

A contingent of dreadful guys, however, want in on the action, and they raise Imhotep (the mummy from the first movie) because he's the only one strong enough to win on the Scorpion King. The dreadful guys are led by a woman named Meela, who claims to be the reincarnation of Anck-Su-Namun, Imhotep's long-lost forbidden care for.

Sommers cleverly adds an expanded backstory to the main characters from the earlier film, and while some of it stretches the imagination-- it seems like every character is a reincarnation of someone else-- it's executed in a mostly fun and believable draw. In particular, the development of an ragged rivalry between Evelyn and Meela is fabulously well-done, adding mighty dimension to the reasons for Imhotep's gross punishment in the first film. Arnold Vosloo was enormous in "The Mummy," but now, teamed up with his long-lost cherish, he's a thousand times more fun-- creepier, smarter, and yet at times endearingly vulnerable.

Mystical warrior Ardath Bay (the very hot Oded Fehr) also has an expanded role in this film, and helps ground viewers when they are faced with things like multiple reincarnations and hoardes of screaming pygmy mummies. Fehr brings exactly the suitable touches of appeal, swashbuckling bolt, and "exotic" Middle Eastern mystery to the role.

A surprising amount of care seems to have been given to the supporting characters; they have impartial enough depth but not too much: Evie's brother Jonathan is succor, providing distinguished of the droll relief (but he also has some incredible moments of heroism) ; shrimp Alex is fun and resourceful without being overly precocious. Special care seems to have been taken with the villains: they are by turns menacing, comic, and *smart*, often a rare thing in the action/ adventure genre. In particular, Bay's rival Lock Nah is well-written and well-acted.

The script isn't exactly Shakespeare, but it's rapidly, droll, and (mostly) makes sense. The action sequences are spectacularly well-choreographed, and of course, the special effects are impressive. Sommers also allows some incredible moments of human emotion: the sexual chemistry between Evie and Rick (ditto Meela and Imhotep) ; Jonathan's pains for his sister and nephew; Evie and Rick's appreciate for their son; Bay's danger for his friends (and his gigantic affection for his extraordinary hawk) . These petite touches manufacture the dissimilarity between a mindless action flick, and something that really stays with you after the credits roll.

Oddly enough, the much-touted presence of WWF star "The Rock" as the Scorpion King turns out to be almost negligible: it's a cameo that mostly sets up his acquire tale "The Scorpion King," due out in 2002. The loyal heart of this movie are the Evelyn-Rick and Imhotep- Anck-Su-Namun like stories. Without these and the other tremendous characters from "Mummy Returns," it's hard to imagine that the next movie in this franchise could possibly top this one.

So if you're looking for something stout, rent "Lawrence of Arabia." If you're looking for a highly delicious popcorn flick, "The Mummy Returns," should fit the bill perfectly.

If Tim Burton were ever to attempt a steampunk fear sage, then I imagine the results would be something like "D.Gray-man."

And the first thirteen episodes of this gothic, deeply quirky anime attempts objective that kind of atmosphere. "D.Grayman: Season 1 Allotment 1" starts off relatively slowly as it introduces the main storyline, the akuma and the sweet-natured Allan Walker. But the fable really blossoms as our likable, timid hero begins his recent life among other exorcists.

Two cops are investigating an abandoned church when Officer Moore encounters a unfamiliar boy with a deformed hand, Allen Walker. After her partner is killed, Allen manages to set Moore from an akuma -- an enslaved human soul under the control of the snide Millennium Earl. When Allen is placed under house arrest in Moore's home, he reveals that the akuma is nearby... and its origins lie in a horrific tragedy from Moore's hold past. Only Allen can conclude it.

Later Allen arrives at the clifftop Exorcist Headquarters to introduce himself as an official exorcist. But things don't go very smoothly -- he's improper for a peek, the exorcists are weirdos, and the situation is governed by furious genius Komui and eerie Hevlaska. But Allen finds out unbiased what "Innocence" is, and why the exorcists are racing to catch it.

His first missions are no less stressful: first Allen is called to accompany antisocial swordsman Kanda to an abandoned city tremulous by a "ghost"... and a shapeshifting akuma. And he encounters a young boy definite to fight the akuma, but unaware that someone end to him is one -- and a face-to-face encounter with the Earl reveals the horrifying reason Allen became an exorcist.

Then Komui's sister Lenalee is sent with Allen to a town that is repeating the same day over and over -- and only the pitiful Miranda Lotto notices. But their mission is complicated by a mysterious human girl who has reach to locate the hidden Innocence... and pick it for the Earl.

Cyborg demons, cross-embedded magic arms, virus-filled biobullets, giant heavenly worms with collagen lips, and a mountain fortress filled with eccentric exorcists out to build the world from a grinning, plump demon who looks like a Blue Meanie and may (or may not) have rabbit ears. Yup, "D.Gray-man" is not your typical manga series, even as quirky fright goes.

And "D.Grayman: Season 1 Allotment 1" does an apt job sticking to Hoshino Katsura's manga series, introducing a gothic Victorian world and introducing the akuma, the Earl, and the exorcists. It also lays the groundwork for what the Earl's plans are, and what the exorcists are doing. It's a blooming standard "regain the artifacts before the terrible guys do" goal, but with a couple though-provoking twists.

And along the blueprint, we're given plenty of explosive, horrific action with macabre creatures, graveyards, small gloomy towns, and the tragic, horrific origins of the akuma. But lest the series become too grim, we rep plenty of silly stuff as well -- including an entire episode devoted to Komui's deranged robot rampaging through Headquarters, trying to operate on the exorcists.

Allen is a attractive endearing hero from the begin -- polite, apologetic, selfless and dauntless, even when people are base to him. But he becomes truly striking character it's shown how got his cursed gawk, white hair, and ability to demolish akuma. He's backed by a solid supporting cast -- the snotty Kanda, sweet-natured Lenalee, eccentric Komui and frenetically wretched Miranda. And the Earl is a very creepy villain -- not unbiased because he wants to destroy God, but because he smiles cheerfully even as he destroys people.

The blu-ray edition doesn't seem to vary at all from the novel DVD version -- it's got the first thirteen episodes of the first season, with some accompanying trailers, one episode's audio commentary (English), textless credits, and not worthy more. If you already occupy the series on DVD, this won't give you grand more than a prettier shroud.

"D.Grayman: Season 1 Section 1" has a few episodes that don't quite approach "capable," but it's an gracious launch to an outstanding anime series. Absolutely shiny -- and promises to net even better.
