If Tim Burton were ever to attempt a steampunk fear sage, then I imagine the results would be something like “D.Gray-man.”

And the first thirteen episodes of this gothic, deeply quirky anime attempts objective that kind of atmosphere. “D.Grayman: Season 1 Allotment 1″ starts off relatively slowly as it introduces the main storyline, the akuma and the sweet-natured Allan Walker. But the fable really blossoms as our likable, timid hero begins his recent life among other exorcists.
Two cops are investigating an abandoned church when Officer Moore encounters a unfamiliar boy with a deformed hand, Allen Walker. After her partner is killed, Allen manages to set Moore from an akuma — an enslaved human soul under the control of the snide Millennium Earl. When Allen is placed under house arrest in Moore’s home, he reveals that the akuma is nearby… and its origins lie in a horrific tragedy from Moore’s hold past. Only Allen can conclude it.

Later Allen arrives at the clifftop Exorcist Headquarters to introduce himself as an official exorcist. But things don’t go very smoothly — he’s improper for a peek, the exorcists are weirdos, and the situation is governed by furious genius Komui and eerie Hevlaska. But Allen finds out unbiased what “Innocence” is, and why the exorcists are racing to catch it.
His first missions are no less stressful: first Allen is called to accompany antisocial swordsman Kanda to an abandoned city tremulous by a “ghost”… and a shapeshifting akuma. And he encounters a young boy definite to fight the akuma, but unaware that someone end to him is one — and a face-to-face encounter with the Earl reveals the horrifying reason Allen became an exorcist.
Then Komui’s sister Lenalee is sent with Allen to a town that is repeating the same day over and over — and only the pitiful Miranda Lotto notices. But their mission is complicated by a mysterious human girl who has reach to locate the hidden Innocence… and pick it for the Earl.
Cyborg demons, cross-embedded magic arms, virus-filled biobullets, giant heavenly worms with collagen lips, and a mountain fortress filled with eccentric exorcists out to build the world from a grinning, plump demon who looks like a Blue Meanie and may (or may not) have rabbit ears. Yup, “D.Gray-man” is not your typical manga series, even as quirky fright goes.
And “D.Grayman: Season 1 Allotment 1″ does an apt job sticking to Hoshino Katsura’s manga series, introducing a gothic Victorian world and introducing the akuma, the Earl, and the exorcists. It also lays the groundwork for what the Earl’s plans are, and what the exorcists are doing. It’s a blooming standard “regain the artifacts before the terrible guys do” goal, but with a couple though-provoking twists.
And along the blueprint, we’re given plenty of explosive, horrific action with macabre creatures, graveyards, small gloomy towns, and the tragic, horrific origins of the akuma. But lest the series become too grim, we rep plenty of silly stuff as well — including an entire episode devoted to Komui’s deranged robot rampaging through Headquarters, trying to operate on the exorcists.
Allen is a attractive endearing hero from the begin — polite, apologetic, selfless and dauntless, even when people are base to him. But he becomes truly striking character it’s shown how got his cursed gawk, white hair, and ability to demolish akuma. He’s backed by a solid supporting cast — the snotty Kanda, sweet-natured Lenalee, eccentric Komui and frenetically wretched Miranda. And the Earl is a very creepy villain — not unbiased because he wants to destroy God, but because he smiles cheerfully even as he destroys people.
The blu-ray edition doesn’t seem to vary at all from the novel DVD version — it’s got the first thirteen episodes of the first season, with some accompanying trailers, one episode’s audio commentary (English), textless credits, and not worthy more. If you already occupy the series on DVD, this won’t give you grand more than a prettier shroud.
“D.Grayman: Season 1 Section 1″ has a few episodes that don’t quite approach “capable,” but it’s an gracious launch to an outstanding anime series. Absolutely shiny — and promises to net even better.

The box dwelling, on the other hand, I would give two stars. The situation is actually really nice and looks mountainous. There’s unbiased one jam, the disc holders are cross. I’ve had to exchange the plot more then once and eventually earn a refund because each status I got had about half the discs dislodged from shipping. Most were scratched and scuffed so that they were unplayable in parts. Others have reported the same dilemma as well. I would suggest buying the seasons individually despite the increased trace because no matter what intention of shipping, the discs are likely to find dislodged and damaged. Better to pay a bit more and have a situation you can actually recognize.
The delivery was on time and the packaging is exceptional. However, some of the DVDs have glitches in them, places where the scene stops and doesn’t proceed and there is no sound. It is a region where you don’t want to send the entire collection wait on, because only parts of it are harmful and you don’t know what you will net when the replacement arrives. I have only viewed the first season and have this spot. I am hoping for better for the rest of the collection.

This is an appealing, light-hearted, and unprejudiced inspect at India from an American perspective.

I visited India (Modern Delhi) three times this summer (and counting..) for business projects, and I was able to seek this movie twice during the course of my flights. With each viewing I smiled and laughed at the scheme the American characters adapted after their first few “transition” days in India, and how the Indian characters earnestly tried to design them feel welcome.
As a previous reviewer mentioned, the movie doesn’t mention the grittier side of India, such as the gargantuan slum bordering the Mumbai (Bombay) airport, or the muddy, pot-holed, trash-filled streets and sidewalks of every town. However, it does shows the predominantly sweet nature of the Indian people which IMO is one of an India traveler’s best rewards.

Aside, if you are planning to disappear to India for the first time, remove anti-malaria pills with you, a couple rolls of your well-liked toilet paper, a phone that works in the 091 country code, and an openness of different cultures. Also, sit in the benefit seat of your hired car, because the opinion out the front will be like a widescreen viewing of the craziest “close-but-no-contact demolition derby” you’ve ever seen. Most, but not all, of these points are implied in the movie.
I recommend watching this movie after your lag, you will probably be pleased the movie more than if you seek it before. If you sight it before your amble, create positive you see it again when you acquire assist!
This film is not your typical Bollywood although it is situation in India. A sweet and insightful film, it looks at the impact of outsourcing, not unprejudiced on Americans but others also as we continue our “accelerate to the bottom” economically speaking. In addition the ethnic differences are dealt with humorously but manufacture a point about how mighty we in the U.S. don’t understand other cultures and how enriching it can be to originate ourselves up. Throw in a worship sage (not a chick flick, though), a “hero” that is unprejudiced an ordinary guy, along with the grand situation – both sparkling and painful to look at times (the conditions of the “lower” castes) – and the movie is very compelling. I fair loved it. Not a “large” as in a “titanic” movie, but sizable in the contrivance that a limited, still yet remarkable film is.

Produced by Toho as a “acquire that” to the abominable American remake from 1998, I idea this Godzilla movie was really immense! I also found it noteworthy better than the bloated Series 2 (1984-1995) films, and to be as fun as any of the Series 1 (1954-1975) films! The chronicle was animated, the characters were likeable (and thankfully fewer characters, unlike the Byzantine Series 2 characters), the special effects are impressive (almost to the level of the modern Gamera movies, and it even uses some CGI!), there was actually more hardcore monster action (as opposed to the in-your-face laser light shows of the fresh films), Takayuki Hattori’s music was well done for a non-Akira Ifukube regain, and the movie doesn’t acquire itself too seriously! Godzilla here looks his best yet, and the Millennian/Orga is one of Godzilla’s more bizarre adversaries!
Although the public response to this film was surprisingly determined, I was rather unfortunate to hear the same words that US critics broken-down to portray Japanese SF films past, such as “cheesy” and “campy.” Although I don’t mind poking fun at Japanese SPFX, I unbiased wish they weren’t so meanspirited. Besides, broken-down fashioned suitamation FX has been improving in Japanese films, especially with the attend of CGI! You have to give them credit.
I was very satisfied to gawk this film in the theater (I saw the Japanese version later on), and that Tri-Star brought this film to the US, partially to apologize to the US fans for that American monstrosity! I judge it’s time for the US to indulge in Japanese SPFX, and occupy its fandom in the US.

In short, I reccommend this movie! Glance for it, especially on DVD!
“Godzilla 2000,” is a factual story of monster preportions! This film surprised me – a honest G-fan in every sense of the term – with it’s first rate monster designes, it’s awsome musical pick up (as friendly as Akira Ifukube even, especially his theme music!), and even some terrific computer effects work! (Gargantuan surprise there!) The emphisis on Godzilla as an unstopable force-of-nature is taken to current levels here (the opening scene is in my plan the highlight of the film, with ambitious camera angles and atmoushpere), and the villian monster Orga is great in all of his different stages.
This movie has a mood to it, not seen since the new – and “Godzilla 1985,” as the enormous guy approaches land, everything stops – and is unbearably unexcited (very eerie!) . It’s impartial like a tornado approaching, giving this film terrific realizm (yes, I know this is a Godzilla movie I’m talking about) . Another thing is the human side of things:
- The dubbing works nice here, very synced with the mouth movements. But it’s never, never going to be perfect.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Godzilla 2000! Click Here
- I enjoyed the characters, more everyday kinds of people. The main hero and his daughter race a G observation network, shades of “Twister,” might be noticed here. And beneficial humour is evident, like any regular domestic release, not unintentional, like in some of the early ’70’s entries.
All around, I LOVED “Godzilla 2000″ I recomend it to life-long fans, and even casual observers will derive this allotment inspiring. My popular of all time, along with the newer Heisei series (exellent by the contrivance, but “G-2000″ is simply on a whole other level) serves up delectable action-packed entertainment.

I was a titanic fan of this series when it first aired on PBS in 1983 and I taped the whole thing. So when it came out on DVD I notion I’d invest in the recent format, seeing as my tapes were now 20 years veteran and I wanted to be able to notice it again and allotment it with others without awe of it disintegrating.

Boy, was I in for a letdown. First of all, this edition is loaded with commercials. That’s suitable, commercials. That was the last thing I expected to ogle on an expensive DVD place. But no, every episode is prefaced with no less than 2 commercials: one for Liberty Mutual and one for the Scott lawn care company. I could have lived with a brief mention of the companies that funded the series, but not only are these full-blown commercials, they aren’t even the companies that funded the making of the series! WGBH has sold commercial time to companies who had nothing to do with the making of this docmentary. If that weren’t enough, we acquire to witness the same commercials at the slay of every episode, followed by a coast for PBS. I paid $60 for this???
But the most evil thing about this dwelling is that it’s been edited down from the modern series. I couldn’t gain it. I haven’t had a chance to compare every episode on the DVD situation with my used tapes, but there is a segment reach the kill of episode 1 that has been deleted. In the recent episode 1, a French colonel being interviewed about Dien Bien Phu talks about the demolish of the unfriendly seige and refers to the Viet Minh as “Red Termites”. This has been lopped off the DVD version. I can only anxiety at the opinion of other expurgations. Was it purged for political correctness or to do room for the commercials? I can’t say. I don’t yet know if the other episodes are similarly truncated, but in my view none of them should have been. This series is too vital to let commercial expediency diminish its journalistic integrity.

Thank goodness I level-headed have my outmoded tapes. Now I contemplate I will digitize them onto DVD so I can support the work in the manufacture the film maker intended.
Typically, DVDs offer added features that are not found on a film’s/program’s earlier VHS version. At the very least, one expects a DVD to offer the same affirm as the video. The producers of this DVD space, however, evidently decided to buck that trend. If you are looking for the same utter that the unusual historical and influential video series contains, DO NOT retract this item.
The first episode alone reveals several omissions, such as the “red termite” yelp mentioned by another reviewer. (The enlighten, a memorably racist statement by a French official, clearly depicted the attitude of at least some of the French leadership at the time, who saw the Vietnamese rebels as “termites” –vermin to be exterminated. Not an modern mind-set in colonizer/colonized relations.)
Another blatant omission concerns the French exploitation of Vietnamese rubber plantation workers. Here, the DVD not only edits out footage of workers in a plantation (with extremely sparkling images of the slicing of tree bark to extract the rubber), but it omits an entire interview with a Vietnamese national who describes the brutal treatment suffered by rubber workers. This man recalled a accepted expression of the time in which the plantation workers were known as “fertilizer,” because so many of those who died were buried beneath the trees among which they toiled. Unless you contemplate the video, though, you’ll never know this–because the DVD cuts all of it out.
The edits I have seen so far (episode one) clearly examine to minimize Vietnamese suffering under the French colonial system. I can only imagine what the later episodes omit. The producers seem to want to set a novel “walk” on their documentary-watering down harsh imagery and language, and thus sanitizing the war. This is a obscene achievement, and one that I pick up hard to gain PBS condones. It is all the more appalling given the stature of the new program.
If you want the actual thing, then derive the VHS. And place pressure on PBS to release the series on DVD in its fair, modern effect. It’s worth noting that, on the PBS website for the documentary, even the official program transcript has been altered to believe the “novel and improved” version. Why would this highly touted documentary watch to rewrite its gain lauded history? Are there political pressures at work? Who knows-maybe these questions will lead to the creation of a modern documentary. One that answers the question: Why did American Experience and PBS gut their possess masterpiece?

My only complaint that makes this 4-stars instead of 5 is the fact that the DVD is censored. I understand beeping out noxious language when it’s on TV, but if I’m paying $25 for the DVD, I’d kinda like to hear the “F” word.
Even with the censored language it is calm a DVD worth getting, and you will laugh, over and over again even with multiple viewings. The topics range from PG-rated to X-rated, so please be aware that it is not family righteous. But hell, objective set aside the kids to bed, the DVD is comical as hell.
Great advance to the subject. As always, Lewis Sunless delivers his advance to this subject in his very silly style. This is a tall addition to my Lewis Unlit collection.

First let me say, this review is not of the company that puts out this dvd or the manner in which the dvd was released. I agree they should have all the movies together in one region and could have made it match the seasons. But, movie and music companies always leave something to be desired in how they release things so I am not gonna write a review of that. I am writing this in regards to the valid made for tv movies. I personally do not understand why everyone is talking so negatively about these movies. My personal idea is that, anytime you add James Garner to the mix you’re gonna net your money’s worth. I am a collector of dvds so I am happy/proud to say that I can finally have these to complete the Rockford Collection. Although the actor is older, you don’t pick up the feeling that they tried to underplay his age. They salvage it, they broach the subject many times with humor, and all-in-all you pick up an actor playing his age as well as not losing any of the qualities that made the actor so memorable. there are the trademark one liners, though he does seem a bit more rough around the edges he is aloof the same broken-down rockford we grew up with in the 70s and in reruns. The saddest portion was that Rocky wasn’t able to be in them. Anyone who is/was a fan of the display will feel as if they’ve lost a family member as well. The storylines are splendid, and are profitable vehicles for the Rockford character. There are a few reunions (for us as well) as he is joined by Beth and Angel (throughought the course of the movies) too unpleasant Isaac Hayes didn’t indicate up though. That would have made it more complete. I would glady reccomend this site to anyone who has seen the series and loved it as I did. I’d help anything I can with Garner’s name on it. He is a lovely actor who simply made it scrutinize easy and natural. I really would have liked it released differently (one complete station) but that is a minor qualm. Fair be grateful these made it to dvd. Many companies are always looking for what’s original and hot and not necessarily for what is worthy. Garner never made a movie/series I didn’t like. He was the type that could elevate the material to levels it was probably not meant to be at. Even though the status is not out yet (I have recently seen these episodes…recorded off the Hallmark channel) and will express you you won’t be disappointed if you purchase these.
I fill the unique 1970’s television series “The Rockford Files” was one of the finest drama series ever made. This was largely on the strength of the performance of James Garner in the starring role, in addition to the shapely scripts by people like Steven Cannell, David Dash and others. Garner NEVER establish in a awful performance, something that few actors of even the most successfull series can say. The stories, both those that had more laughable aspects (such as those with the unforgettable character Angel, played by Stuart Margolin) or those with a more serious storyline always kept the attention of the audience and provided top entertainment. Few other series can say this.

HAVING SAID THIS, I am alarmed that I can not wholeheartedly recommend the movies that made up the revival of the series in the 1990’s. These movies fell victim to the celebrated pickle of all revivals using a noted older star. Whether or not they are concious of it or not, they are being paid a fortune, they have nothing to note, they usually don’t have the energy they had when they were young, and they know that the reveal can not be made without them. This almost inevitably has the actor ease up and it frequently seems that they are simply going through the motions. Unfortunately we behold this syndrome in these movies. As attractive an actor as Garner was in his glory days, by the time these movies came along, he simply was not the same man. In addition, the nature of television had changed between the 1970’s and 1990’s. The 1970’s had directing oriented towards a “natural” feel regarding lighting, sets, camera angles and such. In the 1990’s there is something more of a “surreal” feeling in which rather unnatural lighting is feeble and the furnishing of the sets seems sterile compared to that of the earlier period, which I personally don’t care for. Also, because of changing taste, things like profanity and explicit talk about sex became more well-liked and this is often passe as an out for idle writers who don’t have to work hard in order to acquire more creative stories, relying simply on the decreasing shock value to enjoy the audience’s attention.
It is also shadowy to search for magnificent supporting actors such as Joe Santos and Pat Finley (Jim’s pal Dennis Becker and his wife, Peggy) who were so dynamic in the modern series seemingly becoming aging relics. James Luisi, who was so top-notch as Rockford’s nemesis Lt. Chapman in the LAPD here appears as simply a goofy caricature.

The bottom line is that these movies are yet another proof of Thomas Wolfe’s immortal line “You Can’t Go Home Again”.

I bought all of these individually. As he did with The Civil War and Baseball (as well as his earlier works which are now also in a box plot, not to mention The West, Original York and Jazz) . Ken Burns continues to indicate his “American Stories” with pictures and narration that bring the past alive. 1 diminutive nitpick sign however. This is an 8 not a 7 disc situation (for some reason the Jack Johnson sage was released on 2 discs rather than a double sided disc like Heed Twain and Lewis and Clark which are of equal length to it) . Other than that, you’re getting a estimable deal on this and it will fit nicely along side the “America” box space (or your copies of those individually) and Ken’s award winning “mini series” (plural) . Pick Up em all, and all other documentaries will unbiased travel away. Ken Burns is the KING of the original documentary film. Preserve em coming, Ken, we’ll hold buying em (on DVD)
I received a status with 2 Lewis & Clark disks, not 1 doubled sided disk. The Note Twain however is double sided with no indication that it is double sided. The series is fine and informative. I highly recommend it.

The record, though it admittedly has parts that don’t build sense, is quiet interesting; it’s about a gladiator named Layla who wanders around Mars with a limited robot girl named Nei. Earth has been destroyed, humans can no longer reproduce, the moon somehow threatens to wipe out the planet, and in the middle of it all, the two main characters are being hunted down by a pair of immortals who rule over portion of the planet.
It certainly has its unimaginative parts, but the occasional fight scenes and some good-quality animation makes up for it all. The characters are kind of likable, but not entirely animated. The packaging for this is awesome; it’s a metal tin with all three discs securely fastened to either extinguish of it. And it comes with four free film cells.

The whole series is like “Noir” mixed with “Iria,” and although it may not be up to par with either one, I would reccomend it if you liked them. I’d also reccomend it if you enjoyed such things as “Madlax,” “Dot Hack Heed,” “Planetes,” and maybe “Outlaw Star.”
This explain has a lot of weaknesses, but it’s unruffled one of the few action/sci-fi shows that has a decent female lead who a) doesn’t have sizable [...] pick up her clothes torn off every fight, b) isn’t a ditz and c) isn’t obsessed with her gain gender. There’s no romance, goopy scenes, tiring, comedy, or annoying/lame magical-girl elements. Even though a lot of things are left unexplained, Layla is a huge character and Avenger was a refreshing change from the usual, sexist action anime out there. It’s a very safe note at least for female anime-fans who like genuinely strong, independent female leads rather than female leads who are supposedly strong but who are actually totally lame and musty when you deem them over carefully. The fight scenes are a bit different from the norm, but they’re great–I only wish that there were more of them. Art and music were decent. The account wasn’t big, but it kept things spirited. The first episode is very representative of the series, so if you don’t bask in that first ep, you should probably objective cease.

This yarn is about a girl named Nina. Nina’s dream is that someday she’ll meet a beautiful prince who will become her protector. One day, as she’s having cake with some friends at a sidewalk café, she finds an object that looks like a fraction of hard candy on her plate. She puts it in her mouth and bites down on it, and that’s when everything goes crazy. Two guys present up at her table, swearing that they’ll protect her from anything, and all of a sudden shields go up, and flying bodies begin flowing around the shield and crashing everywhere. Nina, of course, swallows the “hard candy” whole during the excitement.

The two guys hurry with her to a level-headed station, and launch to define the location to her. It seems that she has unprejudiced witnessed the beginning of a “final exam” for students who wish to become professional sorcerers. The exam consists of the test proctor dropping an object called the “Crystal Pearl” somewhere at random in the human world. The examinees pair off and go searching for the pearl. Whichever team finds the pearl gets to graduate. The teams have until Christmas to locate the pearl and return with it to the magical world. Nina has swallowed the Crystal Pearl.
I understanding this account might be kind of fun but it was fair… loud. Seems like the swear actors shouted about half of their lines. I dislike that. I understand that the situations were supposed to be intelligent and perilous, but can’t you net some other method to scream that besides shouting all the time? And with all of the different powers that the examinees had (hypnosis, summoning, talismans, barriers, elemental attacks, etc.), don’t you reflect that you might arrive up with something besides the same weak tricks and traps (body swapping, age transformations, animal transformations,… my God, they even borrowed the yelp stealing from “The Minute Mermaid”) .
Buy,Download, Or Stream Save Me! Lollipop: The Complete Series! Click Here
There was one episode that showed some imagination, though. And surprisingly, it revolved around one of the other teams. It seems that one of the girls, San, was regarded as cursed in her home world. San’s mother became ill shortly after San was born, and it seemed as though the more time that San spent with her mother, the sicker her mother became. San’s grandfather forbade them to be together, but even so, San’s mother eventually died. And everybody blamed abominable slight San, even though it was sure that San loved her mother. The only one who stood by San was her cousin, Forte. (This episode also had a song in it that was really creepy.)
All in all, I have to say that this one was a disappointment. Granted, it ended well, but it had the potential to be so considerable better.
I simply loved this DVD. There was the top-notch things, and the abominable things
Good Things:
Very Funny
Entertaining
Also comes in Japanese with subtitles
Bad Things:
Sometimes Impart Acting sounds cheesy
Storyline is all over the plot in distinct episodes
Episodes may be repetitive(because in every episode, Nina is in distress and gets saved by Ichii and Zero)
Overall, I rate it 4 stars. It’s satisfactory, but not something to affirm your anime-loving friends.
This is a suitable anime for people who like Romance, Magic, Fantasy, and Comedy. This is a Shoujo anime, mostly girls will like this.
I suggest to select this even if you don’t like the english dub, because it also comes in Japanese with english subs. Hope this review helps!
